Music Monday: Dang Sho- Dang Sho

Today's song comes from the band Dang Sho from Iran. I hear their new CD Otāghe Gooshvāre, The Earring Room, being played often in book stores throughout Tehran. The first song (and my favorite one) off their album is based on a poem by Mowlana, known more commonly in the west as Rumi. The song is very poetic, so my translation is very rough and more of an insight into my humble understanding of the meaning of the lyrics. Of course Rumi's meaning goes much deeper than I can possibly comprehend, but I must say that I've enjoyed this song a million times more since understanding it a little better. I should attempt to explain the meaning of dang: it's essentially to become unconscious or crazy due to an intense feeling of love. So dang sho means become dang. Hope you enjoy

(1)
nabvad chonin mah dar jahān // there has never been a greater moon [love] in the world
ey del haminjāh // oh heart right here...
az jang mitarsāniyam // are you frightening me from a fight?
gar jang shod gu jang sho // if it's meant to be, let it be
dar eshghe jānān jān bede // in the name of absolute love, give your life
bi eshgh nagshāyad gere // without love, there are no solutions to difficulties
ey ruh injā mast sho // oh spirit be drunk with love
ey aghl injā dang sho // oh wisdom become crazy
